DURATION: 15'

Turn around boy is a hybrid work (a blend of dance and circus) performed by a duet of dancers in public space. Playing with and around a metallic ring, the blind-folded bodies defy the rules of gravity and balance, allude to the myth of Icarus and the human wish to fly, and demonstrate the technical skill and poetic urge responsible for the work’s overall sense of a playful, and yet impossible, soaring to the skies.

Time is somehow suspended as the ever-swirling ring inscribes and describes the continuum of human movement and of the energy thus released.

BIOGRAPHY
Le grand jeté! is an association created in 2002. Its target is the creation of contemporary dance shows, education and training for the contemporary dance culture. Since 2002, Frédéric Cellé has developed a rich and varied repertoire, composed of many short shows for public space and theaters. His dance is both technical and powerful as well as physical, energetic, carnal, passionate, generous, poetic, made with gestures leading to emotion, intensity. Frédéric Cellé loves big jumps, rolls, throwing the body into the air, propelling himself into space, balancing and running. Fighting is the heart of dance as well as of his imagination: fighting to feel alive, to survive in the world, to be essential; fighting in a battle against time, for positive yearnings. Le grand jeté! is supported by the town of Cluny, the general Council of Saône-et-Loire, the Regional Council of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, and the Ministry of Culture (Drac Bourgogne-Franche-Comté). Choreographer Frédéric Cellé is an artist-partner of the theater L’arc-scène nationale - Le Creusot since 2010.
