GUSH IS GREAT
GUSH IS GREAT portrays a tightly bonded group of five performers moving with extreme slowness, as if emerging from a suspended dream. Their collective procession creates a raw, poetic atmosphere charged with contemporary tension. Everyday objects fall from their clothes—phones, cans, newspapers, flowers—forming a growing landscape of modern debris that disrupts the fragile rhythm. These discarded symbols become a quiet rebellion against the absurdities of today’s world.
The soundscape shifts between English pop, French Romanticism, insect noises, and chaos, reinforcing the piece’s emotional volatility. Slowness becomes a political stance, reclaiming time, simplicity, and meaning. The work explores fragility, mutual support, and the traces humanity leaves behind — often acidic, derisory, and unsettling.
The final fall raises questions: play, accident, collective surrender? Its only certainty is the shock it delivers, freeing the body and confronting the audience with the urgency of reinvention.
The work was presented at the international competition Danse élargie of the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, and received two awards in 2024. In 2025, it was programmed at major festivals such as Aerowaves Spring Forward Festival in Gorizia, ImPulsTanz [8:tension] in Vienna, and the Operaestate Festival Veneto in Bassano del Grappa. In 2026, it is scheduled to be performed at the Festival Le Grand Bain at Le Gymnase – CDCN in Roubaix, La Maison danse CDCN Uzès Gard Occitanie au Pont du Gard, at Zürich Tanzt, etc.
